So much has been going on in the garden recently and whenever I go outside there always seems to be something else to do. I really enjoy this as it reminds me that the days are ticking past quickly and that I must remain on top of all the things that I need to do so that nothing is neglected.
I realised today that I have taken lots of photographs of the garden recently, and thought it would be fun to share them with you:
My beautiful peonies have now died, and I dead-headed them today, but these photos remind me of the two weeks of sheer joy I had this week when they opened.
But now that the peonies have gone I have roses to keep me content:
And of course when the roses fade, I will have the ever-growing vegetable patch. These two photos were taken two weeks apart.

What a lovely garden. I love seeing all your photos. We have to get out early to garden this time of year just because it gets so hot, then rains in the afternoon. You have a lot of beautiful roses!

Your peonies have not “died” and gone to heaven — simply the blooms have finished their cycle and are now saving up again for next year! And as a gardener “by trade”, I find peonies very useful in the perennial border since even after they’ve finished blooming (or are “gone”!), their glorious green, shiny and bug-free foliage provides structure — much like a compact shrub.
But you already know all this — just wanted to shift the language! ;c)
BTW, I second the gorgeous roses comment! What is the stripey one?

The weather has been very hot here and very stormy. The gardens are showing some wear and it’s only the end of June!
Your vegetable garden looks fantastic! Did you compost or fertilize with anything?
Its amazing how quickly everything grows once the summer really gets going…but not as quickly, I think, as the weeds…
Thanks Ailsa for your comment. I am enjoying the foilage from the peonies, and they still remain my favourite flower – from the first red shoots in spring until now. I think they are perfect in every way. I will check on the stripy rose, I have to say that I choose them for their colour rather than anything else – its a bit of a mixed bag in a roses section.

The weather is finally heating up – up to 30degrees! so I am spending every spare minute in the gardening watering. But it is glorious. No doubt the garden will soon feel the affects and start to wilter. I can’t wait to see the photos of your garden. You inspired me to take photos of my garden!

The vegetable box at the bottom of the garden did get a lot of soil improver added this year including lots and lots of compost. Also, coffee grounds which I pick up from Starbucks.
The tomatoes are from a tomato left over last year, and they seem to be doing really well. The peas in the middle however aren’t doing so well but I am pleased with the lettuce and hopefully the beans will be good to. I will be popping over to your blog to gain tips very soon!
What an absolutely GORGEOUS garden you have Pru. You obviously have a very green thumb, lol! How I envy you. I live in downtown Toronto and only have a yard the size of a postage stamp. You’re so lucky to have all that space to have such a beautiful garden. Great job!!!!
