Weekend!

For the past couple of years I have heralded June, July and August as the ‘entertaining months’.  We don’t entertain guests at home but I like to make more of an effort, try different things, and eat outside more frequently.  This past weekend we devoted time to cleaning our patio area and the garden in general.  It is now nearly ready for alfresco dining.

I had the ‘Monday feeling’ on Tuesday and the ‘Friday feeling’ on Thursday.  Mum and I are off on a little day trip today to Mottisfont Abbey in Hampshire to see the roses.  It should be really good fun.

Following a tiny re-design of this blog, I am now in awe of two other blogs who have had major re-designs in the last two weeks – The Nester and Design Sponge.  I can’t wait to find more time to delve into them.   And my dear, dear friend Kenn has been blogging about his time at the Beekman Mansion over the Memorial Day weekend – to say I am jealous is certainly an understatement!

So, this weekend, plans will hopefully involve a barbecue with lots of yummy salads from my Ottolenghi cookbook and possibly cooking from the June issue of Martha Stewart Living – another good month of the magazine after a few very poor months.

And then work over the allotment – beans, potatoes, tomatoes and cucumbers wait for no-one and need continual watering and attention – but it is fun.

I’m going to do a tour of the allotment in the next few weeks, but when I was looking through photos the other day I noticed what a difference two months has made:

Happy weekend!  Do you have plans?
